I personally prefer this over parafilm for sealing agar plates. It is much cheaper, easier, and faster to use. I have not noticed any mycelium growth difference whatsoever in side by side comparisons with parafilm.
 
This specific product is made from PE plastic, and is actually slightly porous (similar to parafilm). I have found research showing the pore size in this tape is approximately .2 micron.
